How screw piles are installed on site step by step
Installing screw pile foundations on site usually takes one to two days. After installation the piles are immediately ready for load and frame construction can begin the same day. The process consists of 6 steps.
Step 1. Reviewing the project and drawings
Before arriving at the site, we review the foundation plan and drawings. We confirm that the drawing axes match the actual situation on site and calculate the exact number, length, and diameter of screw piles.
Step 2. Measuring height marks and perimeter
With a laser level we measure the screw pile foundation perimeter and height marks. The accuracy of these measurements affects the entire structure level later, so we do not leave this step approximate.
Step 3. Marking pile locations
We physically mark each pile location on site. Each point matches a specific pile in the drawing, to prevent shifts in the load-bearing structure later.
Step 4. Installing piles in the ground
We work with a handheld electric drive that allows installation in tight spaces and does not damage the surrounding area.
- we position the drive over the marked point and drive the pile while controlling vertical alignment
- for private houses and terraces, screw piles are typically installed 1.5 to 3 metres deep
- we monitor torque. The reading rises sharply when the pile blade reaches a load-bearing soil layer
- if we hit a large stone, we unscrew the pile and shift slightly off centre
Step 5. Levelling
Once all piles have reached the required resistance, we mark a uniform height level and cut off excess shaft length. All supports end up on the same plane so the frame sits on a perfectly straight base.
Step 6. Fixing the caps
We weld U shaped or flat plate caps according to the frame type. Weld and cut surfaces are treated for corrosion protection. After this step the foundation is ready for frame mounting.
How long all 6 steps take together
Foundation installation for a private house or terrace typically takes one working day. Larger projects or complex soil may require two days. After the last step the foundation is ready for frame construction without any waiting period.
What to prepare before installation
For the 6 steps to run without delays:
- rights and permits to carry out construction on the specific land plot
- information about underground utilities up to approximately 2 m depth (electrical cables, sewage, water, gas)
- an agreed sketch or project with foundation dimensions, pile types, lengths, and quantity
- access to the installation site and a cleared work area free from trees, bushes, and tall grass
- 220V power supply on site
Conclusion
The 6 step process takes one or two days, after which the foundation is ready for frame construction. No concrete, no waiting, no damage to the surrounding area.
